U.S. lists formaldehyde as cancer risk

I’ve said it here many times. Our ability to produce chemicals far exceeds our ability to test for side effects. It takes years, and in many cases decades before we figure out what many chemicals actually do.

Formaldehyde is everywhere. Not only is it now linked to cancer, but it causes many problems for those who are chemically sensitive as well.

This is why I oppose virtually all applications of chemicals in the environment (including chemicals that kill fish so native fish can be planted). We simply don’t know, and won’t find out until our testing technology catches our production technology.

Frightening stuff. These locations appear to have significant amounts of incidents comapred to other locations.

As usual, the court found that the Bush admin did not properly judge the environmental impacts of expanded offshore drilling.

I’ve really enjoyed the time I’ve spent at Badlands NP. It has a very odd beauty about it. There’s also quite a sizeable chunk of wilderness.

Montana: Flathead county tries to grab Flathead National Forest control

That’s exactly what this plan is. The sole purpose is to “promote increased active management on forest land that will provide long term revenue for Flathead County”. If this county owned the land, there’s no question they would try and sell it. There’s a real bad stink coming from that area. The rampant development (see the highway 93 sprawl) and gung-ho wolf killing are painting an ugly picture of the area.

Pennsylvania: Oversight begins on drilling in forest

It’s amazing to me just how hard the Allegheny National Forest has been hammered by oil and gas drilling. It does seem like there was no oversight process at all for years.
