The Wilderness Sportsman was developed for the express purpose of getting the latest public land information as fast as possible to the reader. I am Mike, and I created the Wilderness-Sportsman. I hope that hikers, hunters, fisherman, wildlife watchers, and other outdoor groups enjoy and use this site to it’s fullest. The news section is set up in a way that facilitates fast letter writing for whatever issue hits you the hardest on any given day. The USFS, congress, BLM and park links next to the “watchful” raven are phone, email and address contact lists do you can be heard on public land issues. I believe that it is incredibly important that the last roadless areas on public lands are kept roadless. I also believe that it is very important for public lands to stay public. These are two public land issues you will be hearing plenty about over the coming months. The news section of the site unfortunately often seems like a never ending list of bad news for our public land, occasionally mixed in with a few feel good stories. This is the reality of the public land system under the current congress and white house. The bad public land news has been relentless to say the least, and this is one of the main reasons why the wilderness-sportsman was created.
I hope you enjoy the site, and the new blog. This site is your resource for public land news, conservation action, trip planning and outdoor talk. It is all things public lands and outdoors. Thanks for stopping in.
