I am an ex-hunter (ex because I now live in a city and I also lost my desire to kill animals) and some of the most environmentally minded people I know are hunters. Hunting an animal can be done cruelly or it can be done so that the animal feels less pain. All the creatures that are on this earth are here for a purpose and we must be worthy stewards for their long-term survival. Killing an animal for sport (versus for food)is barbaric and wasteful–no matter how you kill it.

Yes and one of the cruelest form of hunting you should all get rid of is bowhunting and plus you are a hypocrite because many “sportsman” wanted to keep the lead bullet and fishing tackles even though it was poisoning many wild birds including the bald eagle and the california candor.

To hunt one species to extinction because somehow they are a problem for us is so anti life-mother earth. Elimination of one species will set off a whole new cycle of “problems”. Haven’t we learned that we, the people, do not know what is best???? How many animals have been exterminated due to man’s intentional or unintentional agression?

Prairie dog hunting is barbaric. I’m a hunter, but I think we need to get rid of some forms of hunting. I remember a Life magazine photo of an event that used to take place in a small town on the plains. Foxes were released into a circle of people and beaten to death by children with sticks. In theory we are supposed to be getting more enlightened, no?
