Arizona: Lawmaker pushes for National Scenic Area designation for Sedona

Sedona already is a major draw because of its Red Rocks, New Age healers and streets lined with art shops. But Kirkpatrick said she is pushing the designation primarily to prevent land trades in a 250-square-mile area of the surrounding Coconino National Forest. She also hopes the designation will further protect and preserve the scenic quality of the area and its natural resources.
