Breaking: Bush to weaken protected species rules

Filed under: Outdoors — Mike @ 5:33 pm

“Relax” would imply the rules were “too tight”. I’m not buying into wording that follows anti-conservation memes.

Basically, they are telling scientists to get the hell out when it comes to endangered species. Truly one of the biggest public lands shams in modern history. This president and the cronies in this administration should be deeply ashamed of themselves. But hey, when your “Mr. 20%”in the polls, I guess it’s ok.

The proposal, which does not require the approval of Congress, would reduce the mandatory, independent reviews that government scientists have been performing for 35 years. Developers welcomed the plan, while environmentalists derided it.

The reasoning for this sad act is this:

Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne said late Monday the changes were needed to ensure that the Endangered Species Act would not be used as a “back door” to regulate the gases blamed for global warming.

Surprised? Shocked? Annoyed? You shouldn’t be. I guess global warming and endangered species aren’t important. When both of those things get out of control, it won’t affect us because we don’t live on the same planet. Wait a second…….

The proposal would bar the federal government from looking at emissions from projects which would affect global warming and endangered species.
