Montana: Slow snow melt concerns water officials

Snowpack on the upper Yellowstone, which includes Billings, is at 155 percent of normal. Last week, it was at 144 percent of normal. That doesn’t mean there is more snow, although the higher elevations have been getting some in the wet, cool weather; it just means that snow is melting slower than it normally does.

Montana: Judge shuts down spring snowmobiling on the Flathead National Forest

Link

Forest officials had argued existing road-density rules - intended to protect grizzlies - did not apply to snowmobiles. But U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy, in a May 28 ruling, agreed with environmentalists that the road rules should, in fact, cover snowmobile use as well.
