BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Grizzly bear poachers in eastern Idaho could face up to $10,000 in penalties, if a new proposal from the state wildlife agency passes the 2008 Legislature.

Florida: Fires plague Everglades National Park

CNN reported that 33,000 acres of Everglades National Park was burning Sunday from a blaze that started Wednesday. This fire comes on the heels of multiple wildfires that have plagued the state through out May.

California: Court cuts down Bush plan for logging forests

The U.S. Forest Service was in error when it came up with logging plans for three areas of national forests in the Sierra Nevada to pay for fire fighting, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled.

Tree removal is continuing on the West Fork of Rock Creek Road. Trees in Basin Campground have cut and stacked, and slash and stumps are piled. Cascade Campground trees are cut; stacking and piling are left. Camp Senia trees have been cut; piling and stacking are in progress.

Settergren was charged with possessing or taking a grizzly bear unlawfully. His hunting and trapping privileges may be suspended for three years.

California: Fire season is here

The 2008 wildfire season has arrived in California and the US Forest Service is prepared with more than 4,000 firefighters statewide. Each year in California, the Forest Service increases their firefighting force by hiring more than 1,000 additional seasonal and temporary firefighters to assist during fire season.

Making some changes for different browser platforms and the look in general. Thx for your patience. Hope everyone likes the new design. It still retains some of the old style though. I personally like it because it has less of a “clutter” feel to it than most other blogs.
