Montana: Threatened lynx vulnerable to trapping

Biologists have shown that lynx are very vulnerable to trapping and easily overexploited. Faced with state laws that allow furbearer trapping, the Forest Service can only protect lynx by protecting their habitat - a situation comparable to one agency protecting bald eagle nests while another agency allows all eagles to be shot on sight.

Some Yellowstone park roads reopen

To help Wisconsin’s fledgling elk herd during the spring calving period, the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR), has issued an emergency road closure for several forest roads in the Clam Lake area from May 1 to June 30.
