Copeland said he suspected Many Glacier would be a good place for the work.

“But we had no idea how good it would be,” he said. “We had such success capturing wolverines that there was a lot of interest in keeping the project going.”

There is a very real and sad mindset in some rural areas that advocates terrorizing and hating those who enjoy conservation and roadless areas.

Two men who were part of a group that allegedly shouted death threats, fired gunshots and generally terrorized campers during an August evening in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness pleaded guilty Monday to a variety of charges, and both have agreed to testify against the others in the group.

Agriculture Undersecretary Mark Rey said Tuesday from Washington, D.C., that the administration decided it was quicker and cheaper to comply with a federal district court’s ruling in March that ordered forestry officials to produce an environmental impact statement on the 2005 rules, which would have eased restrictions on logging.
