Georgia: Forest Service may ban off road vehicles from trails

I’m happy to see this as an emerging trend in the USFS. Off-roaders simply don’t stay on a designated trail.

“Anderson Creek has a long history of problems,” he said. “The Forest Service has never had much success getting people to stay on the designated trails. Why create a new trail system when they haven’t been able to control the ones they’ve had in the past?”

The draft identifies a preliminary recommendation of which segments should be included in the Wild and Scenic River system. The final recommendation, which is expected late 2008, is a preliminary administrative recommendation that will receive further review and possible modification by the Chief of the Forest Service, Secretary of Agriculture, and the President of the United States.
