Wyoming: Snow blankets Tetons

The 154 inches of measured snowfall at 9,300 feet on Jackson Hole Mountain Resort as of Thursday is almost half of the entire 315 inches measured through the end of the 2006-07 ski season. The resort reported a 53-inch base at mid-mountain Thursday.
Colorado: Wolf sighting in Rocky Mountain National Park?
Conner is working with the Denver Zoo to photograph the animal and hopefully collect hair and DNA samples. Only with more information can he confirm this animal is a true wolf, not a wolf hybrid or large dog.
Colorado: Agencies draft new plan for SW public land
The preferred alternative, among other things, proposes classifying about 55,000 additional acres as wilderness, which cannot be used by ATVs or mountain bikes. Congress is ultimately responsible for deciding wilderness designations.
Bush admin proposes “easing” chemical reporting requirements on factory farms
The U.S. EPA has proposed a “better approach” to making factory farms report their levels of air-polluting emissions — don’t make ‘em report them at all! Under a proposal put forth today, commercial livestock operations would not have to report hazardous chemical pollution if the source was animal waste.
Colorado: Conservationists pan White River National Forest drilling plan
Steve Bloch, staff attorney for the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, called the decision “the death warrant” for a remarkable area famed for its wilderness qualities since John Wesley Powell took in its views in 1871. Citizens nationwide submitted 57,000 comments on the drilling plan, many of them calling for a more in-depth environmental review.
Montana: USFS seeks grazing comments on Custer National Forest
The U.S. Forest Service, Custer National Forest, Beartooth Ranger District is proposing to authorize grazing on portions of the forest including the West Rosebud, East Rosebud, Butcher Creek, and Red Lodge Creek allotments.
