GRANTS PASS, OR — Expansion of a ski resort area in an Oregon national forest near here will have to wait until the US Forest Service can ensure that the expansion will not negatively impact the drinking water supply for nearby Ashland, OR, according to a September 25 Associated Press report on Forbes.com.

JACKSON, Wyo. — A bison known as “Old Lonesome” stands to break an 82-year-old record after a hunter killed it in western Wyoming’s Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Forest Service staff will be available after the presentation to answer questions and receive written comments. Attendees will have an opportunity to view maps of the current transportation system and the initial proposal. Comments and suggestions regarding designations for motorized vehicle use are welcome. Agents from the U.S. Forest Service found more than 100 blocks of wood at Brown’s home in February 2006. Investigators determined the wood came from Olympic National Forest’s Cook Creek area, where large-scale tree theft had been occurring.
