Cowie said some sites are being retro-fitted to accommodate RV’s and other types of large camping trailers, including a demand for modern amenities.

“Now there is a demand for electrical hookups,” he said. “Many of these units are self-contained, but the campers want the electricity.”

MORGANTOWN — Citing health-related benefits, nearly 100 West Virginia healthcare providers have weighed in to support more permanent Wilderness protections by Congress for the Monongahela National Forest.

“Wilderness lakes” will get a five acre minimum lot size for building your own home. That’s pretty nice. And if I want to take out the red pine for “blocking” my lake view and plant sod going right down to the lake(using all the best chemicals), I can do so as long as it’s only 30 feet wide. Now *that’s* wilderness. Northern Wisconsin - bringing the Milwaukee and Chicago suburbs to what was once the Northwoods since 1900.

Shameful what has happened to that state’s natural areas.

To be discussed this Saturday is a five-acre minimum lot size on bodies of water deemed wilderness lakes, along with a minimum 300-foot lot width (600 for a multiple family dwelling), a 100-foot shoreline setback requirement, and a minimum lot depth of 700 feet. Removal of vegetation would be restricted to a 30-foot corridor within 75 feet of the ordinary high water mark and a 60-foot minimum (120 minimum total) side yard setback for all structures.

Then he gently put them back on the path. “Tourists who come in winter never see that.” Grasshopper eggs, he said, break out in late spring.

The blaze, which began Monday in the area about 20 miles southeast of San Jose, was fanned by hot, dry winds that pushed the flames through rugged, steep terrain, officials said. It was 20% contained by nightfall Tuesday.
