MEYERSDALE — A Meyersdale hunter jumped out of his vehicle to take a shot at a pheasant – but in the end, it was his feathers that were ruffled.

On a snowy road near Tony Grove Lake, skiers and snowmobilers alike said they had experienced ill feelings, which became so intense at times that last year the Forest Service hired a professional mediator to meet with representatives from the two sides, without success.

Utah: Camping fees to rise in Uinta National Forest

PROVO — For the first time in five years, fees will increase for some camping grounds in the Uinta National Forest.
At the beginning of the new year, single family camping fees will increase from $11 to $12 or $14 in the Heber and Spanish Fork Ranger Districts, according to a statement released Monday by the U.S. Forest Service. In the Pleasant Grove Ranger District, the price to camp will increase from $11 to $13.

On December 12, 2006, the Bush Administration announced that it will categorically exclude forest management plans from the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The announcement amounts to nothing less than the most radical overhaul of forest policy in the last 30 years. The new rule rewrites the 1976 National Forest Management Act (NFMA), which has governed federal forest management on all of this country’s 192 million acres of forest land for several decades.
